I want Melo in Detroit

As Carmelo is on his way out of Houston after a 5-7 start, he will be looking for a new home and I want him in a Pistons uniform. Is Carmelo bad luck everywhere he goes, yup. Will he probably go to a much better market for basketball, yup. But here is why I think the Pistons should want Carmelo and Carmelo should want to be a Piston.

Detroit is not a destination anymore for basketball. They cover the red seats in a half full stadium every game, with everyone going with the "Big 3" mentality all the elite players are going to places like Boston, Philly, Golden State, LA. This isn't the "Goin to work" era anymore. So, what do they Pistons have to do, they have to trade for bad contracts no one wants, build through the draft, and sign mid level talent to fill out the roster.

Building through the draft has not worked. Stanley Johnson isn't consistent enough scorer to count on, Kennard isn't half the shooter the Pistons thought he would be. GRIII (FA signing) is barley shooting 30% for 3.

This is where Melo can come in and help the Pistons. With Carmelo in his later years of his career he has become more of an outside shooter, which is exactly what the pistons need. In his 4 seasons where he has shot over 400 3's he is shooting 37%. That is 7 points higher than the pistons are currently shooting as a team and would be the highest % guy on the team. (Griffin is currently the best 3 point shooter the pistons have shooting 35%).

Why would Melo want to come here, well its simple. He will be loved by Pistons fans because he is a big name and he will have no pressure. The pistons without him are going to be fighting for a lower seed playoff spot in the east. This is a lot better of a situation for him instead of fighting for a top seed in the west like he was in Houston and OKC and he plays in front of half the crowd. He would still be playing along side some talented players and they would guarantee a playoff spot with him in the lineup.

Reggie Jackson

Stanley Johnson

Carmelo Anthony

Blake Griffin

Andre Drummond

Lets get on the phone and go get Melo, lets bring in the guy we should of drafted 15 years ago and make a playoff run.
