The Lions OC Search Continues

Lions fan rejoiced after hearing there would be a change at offensive coordinator. Jim Bob Cooter who is now interviewing for the Cardinals job was the one let go 2 weeks ago after a disappointing, very vanilla offense lead by Matthew Stafford. After a long 2 weeks of hearing names come and go that were linked to the Lions OC position like Sarkisian (going back to Alabama), Hackett (GB new OC), and crazy eyes Gase (Jets new HC), Lions fans are getting impatient.
Candidates that never had their name linked to the Lions but were on some wish lists included were Koetter (former TB head coach) who is now with Atlanta, Byron Leftwich (TB new OC), and who I wanted the Lions to get Kingbury (new Arizona HC). That makes the list of 6 candidates the Lions fan would of liked to see calling plays in 2019.
So who is left? Lets start with the narrative that every Lions fan loves, Its going to be someone with New England ties.
Chad O'Shea- Current NE WR coach.
Jerry Schuplinski- Current NE QB coach
Charlie Weiss- Has ties with Patricia & Quinn thru NE
I would only be happy with one of these guys. Chad O'Shea. He was the leading candidate to take over for Josh McDaniels last season when he was suppose to be the Colts HC before reneging. If it happens to be Weiss this town will lose its mind.
Now some candidates I would like to hear them get.
Todd Haley- Former OC for most recently Cle. This seems like a clash of personalities between himself and well every head coach especially Patricia. My reason I would like to see this move is because he won't coddle Stafford and will push him harder than anyone ever has.
John DeFilippo- Former OC for the Vikings. Now I don't think he got a fair shake with Minnesota this year. He had a QB who is overpaid and not good. He became the scapegoat. He was one of the hottest commodities last season and I think he can do good work for them. Now with that being said, Patricia wants to have a power football team, which is going away from everything the NFL is turning into. DeFilippo didn't run the ball much last season calling plays so I don't see him getting the job.
Duce Staley- (Eagles RB Coach)- This is an interesting name I have seen. He would fit in perfectly with Patricia's run first offensive plan. Former player who can help with the disconnect that some reports say that is between the players and Patricia. Doesn't have play calling experience but neither did Leftwich before he took over in Arizona and got hired in TB with Arians.
Now to the guy who I think the Lions will hire.
Shane Waldron- Current Passing Coordinator for the Rams. This is a mix of what everyone in the NFL wants right now. A piece of McVay's brain, young up and coming coach and a bonus with a NE background. He has almost coached every position their is on offense and now helping run the Rams offense with McVay. The familiarity with Quinn and Patricia puts him in a good position to jump up the coaching ranks from Passing Coordinator to OC. This would make Lions fan very happy and in my opinion a step in the right direction for this offense.
