My Thoughts on The Ohio State Football Program.

First off I wanna start this Blog off by saying this. I didn't really wanna address the situation going on at Ohio State because it can be a slippery slope. I also want to make a few things clear, domestic violence is not okay, covering up domestic violence is not okay, and using racial slurs is not okay.

If you are reading this most people know the allegations that were brought to the worlds attention by Brett McMurphy in July. I am not going to re-hatch that news but this is when the program started making huge mistake after huge mistake. From Urban Meyer flip flopping about what he did and didn't know, to the university saying Urban Meyer did nothing wrong but then suspending him. Everything since those reports its been a bad look for the program.

As a fan of Ohio State this is where things become hard. Can you separate whats going on in the program behind closed doors and on the field. Can players and coaches separate those things. I can only speak from one perspective, and I still can't give you a clear answer. If Ohio State was still undefeated and top 4 in the playoff chase would I be Urban Meyers biggest fan, maybe. Instead they are #10 in the playoff race, looking like a team that will still need help even if they go on the road and beat #4 Michigan and win the B1G Championship game to make the playoffs. So, where does that leave me and my feelings towards Urban Meyer?

Well, he looks like he doesn't wanna be there or there is more that is going to come out and his reputation that is already shaky at best is going to all come crashing down soon. More reports came out this week about another incident involving Zach Smith, which Ohio State has came out and strongly denied. (Link Below).

Do I think this happened, no. I am basing this off of multiple players tweets from Ohio State players all saying that this did not happen. I can't believe Brett McMurphy over the players who were there. I do think Brett is using awful journalism tactics (no I am not calling myself a journalist). In his original article which I did not post, he puts all of the stories that supports his narrative and the click bait quotes who were given by Trevon Grimes' dad in the beginning of the article. But towards the end throws in quotes from the Florida football spokesman (where Trevon plays currently) that state..."don't believe anything he tells you" talking about Trevon Grimes father and that "Trevon hasn't spoken or seen his dad in over 2 years."

Even with these reports being disputed, when is enough enough. I don't want to get rid of a coach because of stories that come out that aren't true. It's a dangerous precedent to establish if you are going down that road of believing reports that may or may not be true.

The legal case against Zach Smith on domestic violence was dropped by the courts and with the players saying that Smith never called a player a racial slur, it seems like both these reports were embellished. Don't get me wrong I think Zach Smith is a piece of shit. He is a psycho just go look at his twitter account. He has major anger issues, he wants to ruin everyone that he think did him wrong and he should never be in a relationship with a women again.

So, where does Ohio State go from here? On the field they travel to Maryland this weekend, where Urban tries to get this team firing on all cylinders before the biggest game of the year next week v. Michigan. Off the field, is a tougher question. Will Urban's headaches be too much for him to coach anymore, will Ohio State cut ties with Meyer and look to bring in a new coach after the season.

I will tell you what I want to happen.

Scenario 1 - I want Ohio State to beat Maryland, go home and beat Michigan, ruining their season and win the B1G Championship. That part is not going to change in any of these scenarios. Then, Ohio State will be the 4 seed in the playoffs and get killed by Alabama then they part ways with Urban Meyer. I just think its time to move on for both parties. This isn't all because of the off the field issues this year its also because the on the field product. Haskins is the best pure QB Ohio State has had since Troy Smith and it doesn't seem like Urban is the coach to take full advantage of that. It also has to do with recruiting. Ohio State is what Ohio State is because they recruit the best players all over the country. Do I think everything this year that has happened is hurting that... absolutely.

Scenario 2 - Ohio State wins out and wins the B1G championship but the committee still doesn't think it's enough to make the playoffs and they get into a New Years Six bowl game. If this happens I think they should part ways once they find out they will not be in the playoff. Get a head start on finding a new coach so he can get on the recruiting trail.

Scenario 3 - This scenario I want to happen the most, but it is scenario 3 because I am realistic. I want Ohio State to win the National Championship. If this happens, it's just facts that the only way Urban isn't the coach next year at OSU is if he quits, because a school won't ever get rid of a coach that just won a National title.

Stay tuned for a lot of Ohio State coverage with the continuous drama and also "The Game" coming up.
